3-day-old gets new lease of life after surgery at Tripura Medical College

A three-day-old infant from Tripura’s Sepahijala district successfully underwent complex surgery for Bochdalek Hernia at Tripura Medical College. The rare congenital defect caused her intestines to encroach into her chest cavity, leading to severe respiratory distress. Doctors performed an emergency two-hour procedure to reposition the organs and repair the diaphragm, and the baby is now recovering well.
