51 dead in Nepal as villages swept away by rain, landslides

Heavy rainfall triggered deadly landslides, floods, and lightning strikes across Nepal on Sunday, killing at least 44 people and leaving five missing. Whole villages were swept away in Illam, with blocked roads and grounded flights hampering rescue efforts. India’s PM Modi offered assistance as the government evacuated residents.
