Cyclone Montha weakens over Chhattisgarh; IMD issues orange alert for heavy rain in north Bengal

The India Meteorological Department has issued a warning for moderate rainfall in several north Bengal districts over the next 24 hours. This is due to the remnant of severe cyclonic storm ‘Montha’. Thunderstorms with intense rain are expected in Alipurduar, Cooch Behar, Jalpaiguri, Kalimpong, and Darjeeling districts. A yellow alert is in place for Uttar Dinajpur district.
