Virginia teacher shot by 6-year-old in school wins $10M verdict in negligence case
A Virginia jury awarded $10 million to a former teacher shot by a six-year-old student. The teacher, Abigail Zwerner, sued the assistant principal, alleging failure to act on warnings about the child having a gun. The jury found the assistant principal grossly negligent. Zwerner testified she thought she had died after the bullet struck her hand and chest.
