Madras HC backs ‘Kingdom’ screening: Court orders police protection for Vijay Deverakonda’s movie in TN; says offence no ground to ban fiction
Madras High Court has ordered Tamil Nadu police to safeguard the screening of Vijay Deverakonda’s film ‘Kingdom’. This followed threats from Naam Tamilar Katchi (NTK). NTK opposed the film’s release. They alleged misrepresentation of Sri Lankan Tamils. The court affirmed filmmakers’ rights to express views. It also acknowledged the right to peaceful protest. NTK’s Seeman had warned of blockades.
