Madras HC refuses to quash GCCs decision to privatise garbage disposal work

The Madras High Court has upheld the Greater Chennai Corporation’s (GCC) decision to privatise garbage disposal in Zones 5 and 6. The court dismissed a plea by sanitary workers. Workers’ services are not terminated, so retrenchment does not arise, the court said. GCC has privatised 11 of 16 zones. Delhi MSW Solutions Limited will absorb workers with higher pay.
