Bappa! Ganesha flies business class; Mangaluru idols reach California for 28th year

For 28 years, a California-based family has celebrated the Ganesha festival with idols crafted by the Rao family of Mangaluru, continuing a tradition started 96 years ago. Despite readily available idols worldwide, the Sherlekar family cherishes the Rao family’s adherence to traditional design and discipline.
