How an IAS officer’s efforts transformed a Muzaffarnagar village once branded as ‘criminal’
In 1973, IAS officer Yogendra Narain’s posting to Muzaffarnagar as district magistrate led him to assist the Banwariya community, who faced police harassment due to historical stigma. Narain’s intervention included establishing a school, promoting education and employment, and ending police harassment. Over five decades, his efforts resulted in around 130 villagers securing government jobs, transforming the community’s prospects.
