Uttarakhand govt to recruit 300 doctors, dismisses 56 MBBS bond defaulters

The Uttarakhand government is set to recruit 300 more doctors to strengthen healthcare, especially in remote areas. Health Minister Dr Dhan Singh Rawat confirmed the termination of 56 bond-holding doctors who remained absent despite final warnings. These doctors, educated at minimal cost in state medical colleges, are contractually obliged to serve in hill districts for five years. The government will recover dues from defaulters. Recently, 220 medical officers were already appointed across rural health centres.
