Lens on loss in stamp duty & registration fees

The CAG has criticized Odisha’s revenue and disaster management department for a significant loss of Rs 83.88 crore in stamp duty and registration fees. Registration authorities failed to adhere to the Indian Stamp Act, 1899, leading to the revenue shortfall. The miscalculation stemmed from a failure to apply the correct provisions under Article 35 of the Act.
