Ara MP writes to President, seeks Bharat Ratna for Bhikhari Thakur

MP Sudama Prasad has urged the President to posthumously award the Bharat Ratna to Bhikhari Thakur, widely known as the ‘Shakespeare of Bhojpuri’. Thakur, a legendary playwright and social reformer, used his iconic folk plays like ‘Bidesiya’ to depict social struggles and raise awareness against issues such as dowry and illiteracy.
