India needs 2.5 lakh trained legal mediators to address 1.68 crore mediation-friendly cases, says Supreme Court judge
NLSA chairman Justice Surya Kant stated India requires 2.5 lakh trained legal mediators, currently having only 13,000, despite 1.68 crore mediation-friendly cases. He highlighted a 30% national success rate, which is globally encouraging. Justice B V Nagarathna emphasized the need for specialized mediators in areas like environmental and IPR disputes to enhance the mediation ecosystem.
