Jharkhand Sees Decline in Overall Crimes Against Women But Highest Dowry Crime Rate in India

Jharkhand registered an overall decline in crimes against women in 2023, but recorded the country’s highest rate under the Prohibition of Dowry Act with 1,487 cases. The state also ranked second in domestic violence cases, fourth in dowry deaths, and third in kidnapping for murder, despite police reporting increased proactivity.
