Bescom looks at Rs 1k-cr loss, seeks Rs 1.65/unit surcharge
Bangalore Electricity Supply Company (Bescom) is seeking approval from the Karnataka Electricity Regulatory Commission (KERC) to impose a surcharge of Rs 1.65 per unit on open-access consumers for the fiscal year 2025-26. This move aims to offset anticipated losses of Rs 1,028 crore for 2024-25, stemming from underutilized contracted power due to consumers opting for third-party electricity sources.
