This simple blood test can detect ALS early

A new, simple blood test developed by UCLA Health researchers shows promise in detecting amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) earlier and more accurately. This innovative test measures cell-free DNA, potentially distinguishing ALS from other neurological diseases and offering faster diagnoses for improved patient outcomes and life expectancy. ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis) is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord. Progressive means the symptoms get worse over time.
