Aurora Alert: Northern Lights might appear in 14 US states this week; when and where to look

A minor geomagnetic storm may bring the Aurora Borealis, or Northern Lights, to at least 14 U.S. states this week. NOAA forecasts the best viewing between 10 p.m. and 4 a.m. local time, with darker skies enhancing the spectacle. This rare event, caused by solar wind interacting with Earth’s atmosphere, is more frequent during the current solar maximum.
