Chandigarh: Consumer panel orders insurance co to pay Rs 25L for unjust claim denial

A consumer commission ordered Star Health and Allied Insurance Company to pay Rs 25 lakh to the heirs of a policyholder whose claim was wrongly repudiated. The insurer cited non-disclosure of a 2017 ovarian cyst surgery, but the commission found no malignancy and noted the policy had exceeded the IRDAI’s 60-month moratorium period for contesting claims.
