Citizen-led cleanup initiative turns 1, team to expand horizon

Guwahati’s public spaces are getting a makeover thanks to a citizen-led initiative celebrating its first anniversary. Over the past year, volunteers have conducted 51 clean-up drives, removing 1,500 kilos of waste and installing eco-friendly bins. The group also fosters environmental literacy through ‘tree tales’ and themed walks, aiming to connect urban dwellers with local biodiversity and encourage ecological monitoring.
