Credit gap in agriculture: Ranchi banks surpass priority sector lending benchmark; However, agri-credit falls short of RBI mandate

In Jharkhand, banks are surpassing national targets for priority sector lending but are struggling to meet the Reserve Bank of India’s 18% benchmark for agricultural credit. Currently, only 14.87% of the total loans are directed towards agriculture, a disparity that the State Level Bankers’ Committee has highlighted.
