Delhi: Doctors perform Asia’s first ‘post-death bloodflow’ organ revival using ECMO
In a groundbreaking Asian first, doctors at HCMCT Manipal Hospital, Dwarka, revived a deceased woman’s organs using a heart-lung machine, enabling vital transplants. The Normothermic Regional Perfusion (NRP) technique kept abdominal organs viable for retrieval after circulatory death, successfully transplanting a liver and kidneys.
