‘Fake’ Marco Rubio used AI voice to call foreign ministers and other politicians as US Secretary of State

An imposter used artificial intelligence to mimic US Secretary of State Marco Rubio’s voice. The imposter contacted foreign ministers and US politicians. The State Department issued a warning about fake accounts and impersonation attempts. A separate incident involved a Russia-linked hacker targeting think tanks and activists. The hacker used a fake State Department email address.
