Government unveils draft bill to reshape Indian Statistical Institute ahead of centenary

The Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation has released the draft Indian Statistical Institute (ISI) Bill, 2025 for public consultation. The proposed reforms aim to strengthen ISI’s governance, autonomy, and global competitiveness ahead of its centenary in 2031. Based on past review committee recommendations, the bill seeks to align ISI with other Institutions of National Importance.
