How China promotes its language and culture in Africa

China is rapidly expanding its “soft power” across Africa by establishing numerous Confucius Institutes, offering Mandarin language and culture. While providing scholarships, critics argue these institutes primarily serve China’s economic and political interests, including resource access, and potentially indoctrinate students with authoritarian ideologies.
