ICICI Bank raises minimum balance for new savings accounts to Rs 50,000, rural MAB set at Rs 10,000; older accounts unaffected

ICICI Bank has significantly increased its minimum average balance (MAB) requirements for new savings accounts opened from August 1, 2025. Urban branches now require Rs 50,000, a five-fold increase. While semi-urban accounts need Rs 25,000, rural accounts remain at Rs 10,000. Failure to maintain the MAB will result in penalties.
