India has climbed to ninth globally in forest area, a significant jump from tenth, and maintains third place for annual net forest gain. This achievement, highlighted in the latest UN FAO report, is attributed to government policies and massive plantation drives. Asia, led by India and China, is the only continent to see forest area increase since 1990.
