Karthik stuns Romanian GM in World Cup, assures himself of career’s highest prize money
In the second game of the rapid tiebreak, the 2579 Elo Karthik surprised Romania’s 2655-rated GM Deac Bogdan-Daniel to win the third round 2.5-1.5 and became the fifth Indian to qualify for the round of 32 players. The remaining two Indian masters, Narayanan SL and Vidit Gujrathi, crashed out after losing their rapid games in contrasting fashion.
