Kolkata: 9-year-old boy drowns retrieving jewellery from immersed Durg idol

A nine-year-old boy, ShubhroDeep Samanta, drowned in Uluberia while attempting to retrieve jewellery from an immersed Durga idol on Friday night. He, along with others, entered the pond for his family’s livelihood, as they sold such items. Tragically, his father also died similarly, highlighting the family’s desperate circumstances.
