Mistaken as buffalo thieves, 2 assaulted by mob in Etah

In Etah’s Aghat village, a mob assaulted two men, Mohammed Faeem and Mohammed Firoz, mistaking them for buffalo thieves as they returned from a Chehlum procession. Police intervened to rescue the victims, but the mob attacked them with stones, damaging a police vehicle. Authorities have registered a case against five named individuals and 40–50 unidentified people for rioting and assault.
