Miyawaki-based urban forest to restore land, environment at city’s erstwhile dumping ground

Guwahati is transforming its former West Boragaon dumping ground into a dense urban forest using the Japanese Miyawaki plantation method. This initiative follows the successful regeneration of Borbari hillock, which now hosts over 4,000 native plant species. The project aims to restore degraded land and create a self-sustaining forest after initial bioremediation and soil treatment.
