Mizoram seeks state-specific disaster status to crop damage by rodents

Mizoram’s agriculture minister has requested the state disaster management department to declare a rodent infestation, triggered by bamboo flowering, as a state-specific disaster. This move aims to provide compensation to farmers whose paddy and other crops have been devastated, as they may not be eligible for existing crop insurance.
