Bhopal residents rejoiced as the Bhadbhada Dam opened its gates early Saturday morning, a rare September occurrence, due to heavy rainfall in the Kolans catchment area causing the Upper Lake to approach full capacity. Authorities opened one gate, releasing approximately 50 MCFT of water, with the possibility of further releases dependent on continued rainfall.
