Nomadic Tribal Group in Garhwa Refuses to Return Home Amid Wild Elephant Attacks

Seventy-one tribal individuals from 17 households in Garhwa district are refusing to return to their ancestral village, Baherwa, after wild elephants destroyed their homes and crops. They are currently living in makeshift huts near Geruasoti village, fearing continued elephant attacks. Despite offers of relocation and housing assistance, the community prioritizes safety over returning to their land.
