Purulia-born filmmaker Anuparna Roy wins best director award at Venice film fest; bats for Palestinian kids

Anuparna Roy, a debut filmmaker from Purulia, won Best Director at the 82nd Venice Film Festival’s Orizzonti section for ‘Songs of Forgotten Trees,’ inspired by her childhood in Bengal. She is the first Indian director to receive this award.
