Rains affect onam harvest and sales for farmers in Kochi

Despite heavy rainfall affecting cultivation, Kochi’s Onam season saw successful horticultural production, totaling 30,600 metric tonnes. Farmers implemented strategies to mitigate crop losses, while the agriculture department ensured market stability through online monitoring and strategic sourcing. Tuber production, particularly elephant foot yam, was high, and value-added products under the ‘Keralaagro’ brand were promoted to boost farmer income.
