Sarat Chandra Mishra honoured with chief minister’s award for lifelong work on orchids

Orchidologist Sarat Chandra Mishra received the Chief Minister’s Wildlife Conservation Award-2025. The 85-year-old was honored for his 57 years of work on orchids. He discovered 14 new orchid species. Mishra also published five books on the subject. His interest in orchids began in Koraput in 1968. He has published around 60 research papers.
