SIR to start in 12 states/UTs on Nov 4; wrap up in 3 months

The Election Commission has ordered a nationwide intensive revision of electoral rolls across 12 states and Union Territories, covering 51 crore electors. This exercise, with January 1, 2026, as the qualifying date, will commence on November 4 and conclude with the final roll publication on February 7, 2026.
