Two major Japanese publishers have sued Perplexity AI, here’s why

Nikkei and Asahi Shimbun have jointly sued Perplexity AI, alleging unauthorized use of their content. The Japanese newspapers are seeking a court injunction and substantial damages, claiming the AI startup reproduced and saved their articles without permission, impacting their revenue and potentially undermining journalistic integrity. US publishers have also accused Perplexity of similar data misuse.
