Untimely rain kills baby birds, destroys nests in Jajpur forests
Tragic loss struck Dhanmandal Bazaar’s heronry as gusty winds and incessant rain, fueled by low-pressure systems, destroyed numerous nests and killed hundreds of fledglings. Over 14 bird species, including egrets and herons, were affected. This long-standing monsoon sanctuary, protected by villagers and forest officials, now lies covered in the carcasses of young birds.
